男体山HDR - Mt. Nantai in HDR

I recently got some RAW (NEF) pictures from our trip to Mt. Nantai. Since they are in RAW format, it is really easy to post-edit the exposure settings and therefore it is much easier making great HDR pictures. I tend to take 3 different pictures with 3 different exposure levels (-1/0/+1). However, without the use of a tripod, it is really hard to align the pictures afterwards. So with RAW pictures this process becomes much easier. Some results of my recent experiments below.

Using the halo ring preset.

Ultra contrast setting with edited saturation.

Great emphasis on the clouds.

Protector of Mt. Nantai.

Entrance to the hiking trail, ultra contrast and vignette effect.

This is taken with 3 individual exposures, see the edges, which are not aligned 100%?

This was a bit better but still the alignment problem remains.

Bottom line: always shoot RAWs and then edit them afterwards, it saves time and gives satisfying results. The only downside, of course, is that RAWs take up until 10MB of space on the data card.
