鵠沼海岸

Sometimes life in a city as big as Tokyo is pretty stressful, especially when its hot, humid and there are way tooooo many people aound you. Then one is longing for a more quiet and relaxing place. Although there are plenty of places around Tokyo who fit in tis profile let me introduce today a short aea of the beach called Kugenuma-beach 鵠沼海岸 near the famous tourist spot of Enoshima 江ノ島.

It is easy reachable with Odakyu-line 小田急線 from Shinjuku-station 新宿駅 and it takes not more than an hour to get there. The sand on the beach might be darker than what europeans are used to but its a nice place where one can enjoy the sun for a bit. For what is more, the place is also famous for a lot of surfers practicing along the beach and by renting a board one can try to ride the waves (which are not so high though). A lot of convinience stores around the beach and some party-people supply the guests with what they need for a day on the beach: alcohol and fun. The water was also very good compared the one at Tokyo Bay (i wonder how many drinks does it take to talk somebody into swimming in the polluted area of Tokyo Bay, there are some who swim there though).

The only thing that you should be careful about is the sun. Even if it doesn't look so hot, the water which is like a lens on your skin gives really, really bad sunburns. So better not to forget the sun oil.
