Fushimi Inari Taisha

Kyoto is one of the cities were I could settle down some day. I used to live there in 2006 for half a year but I still feel that this was too short. Although Kyoto is most famous for its well known tourist areas like Gion or the Kinkakuji (Golden Pavillon), my favorite place remains the Fushimi Inari Taisha in Fushimi-ku. The head of all the Inari shrines is lovated on the side of a mountain and visitors can walk through the seemingly endless big red toriis. Its a place that gives me both excitement and a sense of tranquility. And although there are a lot of tourists visiting the shrine, the area is so huge that it doesn't feel that crowded.
