虎穴に入らずんば虎子を得ず

Some might wonder what am I doing all the time not writing for this journal. Well, as some of you know I am in Japan now for a particular reason, that is writing my diploma thesis. This also includes conducting a survey in form of narrative interviews in Japanese companies. Well, today I had my first interview. And boy, was I excited. Not only that it was the first time ever that I interviewed somebody at a company but also in a language that is very tricky when it comes to business manner. So imagine a sweating 25 years old in a full-packed train in Tokyo on the way to Roppongi, one of the famous business districts in Tokyo. The appointment I and was in the Izumi Garden Tower, a huge building right above the train station Roppongi Ichome 六本木一丁目. So what can I say? they had a beautiful view out of the skyscraper (I really would like to work in such a place!) and the interview went surprisingly well. Maybe it was because of the Gaijin-Bonus (that is having indulgence with the foreigners).

Japanese Proverb of the day:

虎穴に入らずんば虎子を得ず --> Koketsu ni irazunba koji o ezu

Literally translated "If you do not enter the tiger's cave, you will not catch its cub", which means something like "You can't do anything without risking something".
